FAQ
Yes. An extensive list of bacteria and viruses against which Goldshield products are effective is available upon request. Please email info@atriumgs.co.uk
Yes. GS75 has been approved in the EU for its effectiveness against SARS CoV2 – the virus that causes COVID19.
Think of applying Goldshield like using an invisible shield that will bond to any surface or textile for ultimate protection.
Most surfaces have undetected tension (the molecules stick together in a way that creates a “solid” surface). Goldshield has a compound that eliminates that tension so the balance of the formula can bond to surfaces so that it actually becomes part of the surface.
The nano-assembly of this shield creates a positively charged surface. Microbes (bacteria, mold, mildew, etc.) are all negatively charged.
When Goldshield is applied to a surface it doesn’t just kill what’s on the surface but it also attracts new and airborne microbes like a strong magnet to the Goldshield nano-assembly and they are impaled, electrocuted and broken down to such an extent that no part of the microbe remains viable.
The last great detail is that as a biostatic layer, Goldshield also acts like strong double sided tape making it impossible for you to rub microbes off a treated surface onto your hands, recirculate them into the air, or to wipe the Goldshield off the surface with your next general cleaning.
This protection can last up to 14 days per application when used as directed.

Yes -preferably. Goldshield bonds and protects best to a clean and completely dry surface or textile.
No. We are proud partners with several manufactures who product top-quality atomisers and have done rigorous testing with Goldshield products specifically to prove their droplet size does not jeopardize the efficacy and protection that is core to Goldshield products.
No, but if you are using a commercial spray applicator we do recommend eye protection and a simple face mask so as to avoid contact with any microbes that become airborne during the application process.
The active ingredient is 3 trihydroxysilylpropyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride which provides a durable, persistent, self-sanitising action.
The product has been classed as having a toxicity rating of 4, which is the most benign classification, requiring only a precautionary statement: “Keep Out of Reach of Children”.
Although this is a common problem for other antimicrobial surface providers, Goldshield scientists eliminated that issue for our formula years ago. However, if you apply too much product on glass or if you apply too frequently (for example, daily) it may leave a slight whitish film that can be easily removed with warm water and a microfiber cloth or commercial window cleaners for glass.
Our products are water-based rather than methanol-based which is a type of alcohol and surface penetration is massively improved during the bonding process using our patented, water-based formula.
We are not the only providers of residually protecting antimicrobial products but, uniquely, we are the only one who’s products are fully stabilized with water.
The science is so sound that Goldshield was awarded a separate patent for these specific details.
Decades ago a Dow Chemical patent expired covering a formula for a residually protecting antimicrobial. A handful of companies chose to begin manufacturing and selling this product at that time. The scientists/founders at Goldshield were among them. However, whereas the other companies chose to continue with using the now “old technology”, Goldshield scientists knew then that even the smallest amount of methanol could be corrosive with time, harmful if inhaled, flammable and combustible.
By joining forces with top scientists at Emory University, Heads of Medicine from major hospitals, and even a former Dean of Harvard Medical School to solve this problem not only did we eliminate the methanol component from the formula, but we also created an even more effective formula with more effective surface penetration – all by harnessing the power of water.
Since then, our team of scientists have been awarded 5 patents, have a several patents pending, and continue to make incredible discoveries in the world of residual antimicrobials that are sure to lead to many more safe yet powerful products for businesses, hospitals, schools, and homes and everywhere in between.

Yes. Goldshield Laundry Protector will eliminate and continuously protect against odour-causing bacteria and fungi such as mold and mildew when used as directed.
It also is effective at removing and preventing the odour, discoloration and staining that can accompany mold and mildew.
Goldshield has a completely different killing functionality than traditional disinfectants. Most disinfectants, such as bleach or quaternary ammonium compounds encapsulate organism releasing their toxic chemicals into the organism, taking 3-10 minutes to kill and denature proteins.
Goldshield has a long carbon chain, like a spike, that releases an ionic charge that destroys the cell structure, while its chemistry denatures proteins, killing the organism on contact. This dual functionality is unique to Goldshield.
Goldshield also forms a strong chemical bond to a surface, and will not leach off or become mobile.
Disinfectants, including bleach, leave trace amounts of organics on surfaces posing respiratory risks. Goldshield will not.
Even when Goldshield is on one’s skin it attaches to the skin cells through the carbohydrates and will remain durable until the cells are naturally sloughed off or effective washed with soap and water.
Unlike alcohol, which actually penetrates one’s cells and gets into blood streams, Goldshield remains like a lattice covering of protection.
